Job Purpose:

Wintech currently employs engineering consultants with strong expertise in facade design who are usually recommended for façade consultancy and in lead expert witness roles in construction/cladding related disputes. Due to continued growth, we are seeking to hire additional professionals with building / quantity surveying experience in cladding related disputes to undertake site surveys and other expert witness services to help support arbitrations, adjudications, general claims and dispute advisory services.

We are seeking a qualified Building / Quantity Surveyor with expertise in cladding related disputes to join our team. As a Building / Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in resolving disputes related to cladding, providing accurate and reliable cost estimates, and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Building / Quantity Surveying with a focus on cladding-related projects. You will be able to analyse and interpret technical drawings and specifications, have a thorough understanding of construction materials and methods, and possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.

The Ideal Candidate:

  •  Required to have building/quantity surveying experience within the cladding and roofing industry.
  •  Preferable to have expert witness experience and/or significant experience as an assistant lead on expert reports may also be considered.
  • To be well regarded for the expert witness work they have performed and have provided expert analysis of the highest standard.
  •  Preferable to have a minimum of three years’ experience supporting expert witness work.
  •  As the role also requires writing high quality professional expert witness reports, including CPR 35 compliant reports and providing testimony when required, excellent command of the English language in both written and spoken modes is highly imperative.
  •  Focused/ analytical approach to working and strong work ethics.
  •  Passion for working in the construction disputes industry.
  •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  •  Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  •  Provide and present documents/project reviews in relation to matters as;
    • Professional negligence and defects
    • Building Regulation compliance
    • Defective design and/or construction relating to subcontracts or construction specialisms including concrete, steel, timber, glass, tensile and demountable structures, brickwork & blockwork, fire protection and separation, cladding, curtain walling, façades, finishes, glazing and material performance.
  •  Conducting comprehensive assessments of cladding-related disputes and providing detailed reports and cost estimates.
  • Preparing and analysing cost budgets, estimates, and financial reports for cladding-related projects.
  •  Providing expert advice and guidance to clients regarding cladding-related disputes and cost-saving measures.
  • Write independent reports and give expert opinion in connection with engineering and construction litigation and specialist expert advice to external clients.
  • Negotiating with contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers on behalf of clients to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Lend support to colleagues with specialist advice within your field of specialism.
  • Harnessing your already established network of legal and other contacts to generate work is highly desired.

Qualifications/ Membership and Experience Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in building/ quantity surveying or related field.
  •  Minimum of 5 years of experience in Building/Quantity Surveying with a focus on cladding-related projects.
  • Candidates should be a member of a relevant engineering or construction industry professional body.
  •  Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) membership or fellowship is highly desired.
