Finance Business Support Manager (12 Month Fixed – Term)

This role is to support the growth of the business during a period of transformational change and is on a fixed-term basis of 12 months initially, with the potential to lead to a permanent position.

Working closely with and directly reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for managing, end-to-end, the finance operations. You will provide complete, accurate, and robust financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis. You will be assisting with the new system implementation, looking to make improvements to procedures and controls, as well as participating in any relevant projects.


Salary: Salary range: £42k - £45k annum


Location: Wolverhampton


Role and responsibilities:

  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Budget and 12-month rolling forecast
  • Maintain accounting records and provide financial information to the Head of Finance by compiling and presenting reports
  • Contribute to the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers
  • Assist in the end-to-end audit process of current systems, while acting as a primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout
  • Deal with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts
  • VAT and Tax returns to HMRC processes
  • Assist with various returns and audits such FOI, BSI and insurance renewal, gathering and collecting data and liaising with any relevant parties
  • Produce any other ad hoc returns and report both internally and externally
  • Manage a team and provide training to junior staff, as and when required
  • Attend business and team meetings
  • Any other ad hoc duties within reason

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Must be fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA) and have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in a managerial role
  • Must embrace change and have the ability to work in a fast-changing environment
  • Be able to adapt management skills to suit a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in the implementation of accounting systems – experience in Business Central accounting software would be a beneficial
  • Practical experience in Group Accounts
  • Strong strategic financial management
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Confident in excel and modelling
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely and efficiently with Finance colleagues and also with wider colleagues
  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Able to work to the Companies high standards
  • An appreciation and understanding of Finance confidentiality and more broadly company/business confidentiality
  • A desire to learn and share knowledge
  • Reliable, trustworthy, respectful, and consistently works to uphold company and accounting body ethics and standards
