Senior Fire Engineer

Reporting directly to the Head of Fire Engineering, the role of a Senior Fire Engineer is to provide Fire Engineering consultancy services, self-manage projects and directly liaise with clients and other interested parties, to effectively meet client’s expectations and actively contribute to the Company’s continued success.


Salary: Competitive and based on a candidates previous experience.


Location: Wintech have offices in Wolverhampton, Edinburgh and London, so this role can be based at any of our offices. UK travel will be required as part of the role, for site visits and client meetings.


Key Responsibilities and Accountability:

  • Deliver the organisation’s Fire Engineering Consultancy services.
  • Represent Wintech for the delivery of Fire Engineering consultancy services.
  • Be a Fire Engineering advocate that drives positive innovation and change across the group and wider industry.
  • Communicate Fire Engineering knowledge to employees within the group via CPDs or other forms of communication.
  • Project management of Fire Engineering client instructions.
  • Ensure compliance and stay current with all applicable fire regulations, guidance, and requirements. Keep abreast of pending and future changes.
  • Working with clients and engineers to project manage fire engineering projects.
  • Informing and supporting design aspirations, functionality and architectural form throughout the design process.
  • Maintaining responsibility for the financial performance and delivery of your projects.
  • Representing Wintech at design team meetings, work with approval authorities on designs and proposals.
  • Providing appropriate and sustainable fire engineering design solutions to clients.
  • Reviewing calculations including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external clients, Engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Act as the Lead Fire Engineer on Wintech projects.
  • Undertake site inspections to existing buildings and new builds to appraise fire safety provisions. • Writing reports and assist in making remedial measure recommendations where required.
  • Provide technical input into EWS1 façade assessments and FRAEW’s.

Key Duties:

  • Working with clients and engineers to project manage fire engineering projects.
  • Informing and supporting design aspirations, functionality and architectural form throughout the design process.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Higher education qualification in engineering or in a fire safety related subject.
  • Already Chartered or working towards achieving Chartered Status.
  • Demonstrable professional experience in delivering fire and life safety designs and fire engineered solutions for UK-based projects.
  • Track record of gaining agreement for prescriptive and performance-based design solutions from approving authorities.
  • Experience of delivering a range of fire safety consultancy services within the facade industry.
