Bending the limits
As part of Wintech’s innovative research endeavours and academic collaborations, in-house structural engineer Shelton Nhamoinesu, alongside University of Cambridge façade engineering researchers, Carlos Pascual and Mauro Overend, developed “The flexural response of large scale steel-framed composite glazing panels”.
Published in Glass Structures & Engineering Journal – Springer, the article covers testing in bending up to failure of medium and large scale composite glazing panels. The experimental test data shows that shear-lag effects can be significant in large scale panels and can reduce their effective widths by about 40%.
