BREEAM Awards for LSE and Centre Point Tower

Two prestigious Wintech projects won individual category BREEAM Awards on the annual dinner hosted by BRE.

The London School of Economics and the Centre Point Tower developments were both shortlisted for the sustainable awards of the year in February 2020. With the support of many façade enthusiasts who voted vigorously for their favourite developments, LSE gained a win for the ‘Public Project – Post Construction’ award, whereas Centre Point Tower won the ‘Homes – Post Construction’ BREEAM award.

As the night progressed, the judges unveiled a number of the main aspects reviewed for each winning project. The final decision was influenced by factors such as building information modelling, size, function, location, history, key features and goals met during construction, the scope of the previous BREEAM assessment undertaken on the building and its benefits on the achieved certifications together with an overview of the environmental challenges and green strategy.

Both of the LSE and Centre Point Tower developments benefitted from Wintech’s comprehensive technical façade specifications and façade consultancy services. Wintech worked from the early stages with the design team, to mitigate the costs imposed by these projects. This ensured a fully coherent and consistent approach across the development and involved the production of a design as early and coherently as possible to ensure greater cost certainty during tender.
