Gurprit Bassi chairs façades and fenestration masterclass
It was great to see Wintech Director Gurprit Bassi chair the Façades and Fenestration Masterclass at the 2023 Offsite Expo in Coventry this week.
The panel consisted of Dr Jonathan Evans, CEO of Ash and Lacy, Craig Fyall, Category Director at Permavent and Lisa-Marie Fernandes, Associate Director at AECOM, discussing the issues facing the construction industry at a time of change for the industry due to new regulations and net zero ambitions.
Gurprit commented, “The Offsite Expo was a great event to be able to connect with the industry to see the latest ideas and innovations in offsite manufacturing, and modern methods of construction of façades. It is well understood that other manufacturing industries in the UK are light years ahead in their automation, standardisation and efficiency.”
“For the façade industry I believe its a matter of when, not if. It is a chicken and egg scenario for product manufacturers: manufacturers are able to innovate, but there is always an inherent difficulty in convincing others of the benefits of change. I truly believe it is our job as Façade Engineers to undertake due diligence on such innovations and to promote ideas and technologies that are of benefit to the industry.”
