New Ludgate

In the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral stands the New Ludgate development, formerly known as 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill. One and Two Ludgate, for which Wintech provided full Façade Consultancy, were designed by Fletcher Priest Architects + Sauerbruch Hutton with clients Land Securities leading the developments.

The 2 striking new mixed-use buildings will accommodate office and retail space arranged around a new public piazza. The buildings boast curved and cranked façades which respond to the shape of the site.

The architects embraced the concept of polychromy as the various faces of the buildings differ in form and colour. Amber cathedral glass provides brightness to the piazetta frontage, and a high level double-height loggia on the top floors reveals a dramatic view of the Cathedral west front and dome. Full height windows within a deeply profiled masonry frame give visual solidity to the street frontage and open views of the street.
