Spiceal Street

Spiceal Street

Spiceal Street was an  innovative addition to Birmingham City Centre in 2012 created a popular tourist attraction for the UK’s second city.

Designed by architects Chapman Taylor, the development with its eye-catching undulating sculptured roof visually compliments the iconic Selfridges building close to it. The scheme which comprises top restaurants is also situated next to one of the city’s historic landmarks, St Martin Church, giving visitors magnificently contrasting traditional and contemporary views.

The complex geometry design reflects modern architecture at its best. Wintech developed the working design using parametric design principles that form the mainstay of complex geometry engineering. The roof is composed of a series of flat beams laid across a set of firrings, designed by Wintech in varying sizes using 3D Design, creating the required wave-form surface solution which scales the length of the set of new restaurants.
