With a 67-acre site steeped in rich history, it was desirable that the King’s Cross project retained elements of its Victorian heritage. High-tech Victorian panels on the architecture reference this era with the external cladding designed to replicate the textured brick seen on several buildings on the site. The façade is deliberately designed with raised and recessed features to divert the eye away from any repetition.
Sustainability is evident in all aspects of the Kings Cross regeneration with the Plimsoll Building itself achieving a BREEAM “Excellent” standard.
Wintech provided Façade Consultancy services for clients Carillion including design detail reviews and site monitoring and surveys.
The Plimsoll Building, which was completed in December 2015, was awarded a RIBA London Award 2016 alongside a New London Award under the Mixed-Use category. Find out more about Wintech Project Awards here.
